Out of all the time I spent working for the Grey Funnel Shipping Line I guess the first part of my illustrious career was a real eye opener. Making new friends seeing new places and the ever present Gunnery Instructor with a roar like Clarence the cross eyed Lion. Not to mention what I thought years later was the meanest Chief's in the fleet who turned out to be one of the most respected senior ranks I ever met. The Right Honorable Jack King Chief Coxs'n.
Them were the good old days, especially getting preferential treatment in the barber shop, due to the fact that I ended up with the barber's brother in law as my sponsor. Snipps and his son Ray were a great pair for a laugh.
